Nature Walk Part II

I just wanted to share a few more pictures of the nature walk. Anyone who live in the Winter Haven area should check it out. There is also a smaller nature trail over on Havendale Boulevard where the old drive-in used to be. On Lake Hartridge. And Winter Haven just finished a 3 1/2 mile walking trail that starts downtown and goes all the way to Lake Alfred. It is part of the Rails to Trails system. I haven't walked at either one of those yet, but plan to do it soon. Enjoy these other pictures of the Lake Howard trail.

This is part of the 1/4 mile section. Lots of old trees, very shady.

Leaving the 1/4 mile part, heading towards the 1/2 mile and mile trail.
This is a play area for the kids and there are a couple of picnic pavillions.

This doesn't look like much, but it's a bird's nest. It belongs to Parrots. Parrots escaped from Cypress Gardens about 20 years ago and made their way to Lake Howard. This is right across the street from the trail and every once in awhile you get lucky enough to see some parrots.

To end our tour, here is a shot of a freight train. There are railroad tracks that run parallel to part of the trail. So you may see a freight train or an Amtrak while you are walking. Hope you enjoyed these as much as I enjoyed sharing them.
