Lane Bryant, ABC and FOX

This Lane Bryant model was in a commercial that was to air after Dancing with the Star and American Idol. ABC and FOX were rumored to say there was too much cleavage showing. Can you believe that? Victoria Secret models you can enjoy during your lunch hour and they are almost totally naked. But a little cleavage means no commercial??? Come on now..us curvier women actually HAVE cleavage, therefore you are going to see some. If you google Lane Bryant Commercial or go to YouTube you can actually find a copy of the commercial. Since I'm doing this blog from work...I don't have access to any of that. And I can only access a few of the sights in reference to this incident. I guess I should have waited until I got home, when I could research this some more, but I just wanted to get the word out that FOX and ABC. I guess I just wanted to vent about tha fact that us curvaceous "mamas" are never treated fairly.

Happier News!

Scott and Liz at the lighting of the lights in Lakeland, December, 2009.

Yesterday I blogged about how worried I am about my husband's health. That is still a BIG concern for me. But yesterday via FaceBook I found out that my son Scott and his girlfriend Liz had decided that they were getting married and set a date. I love Liz. Both of my boys have done very well finding wonderful women to settle down with. And that dear ol' mom can get along with, lol. The tentative date right now is March 26, 2011. At least they gave me more notice than Wade and Diana. The plus is that Liz's family also loves Scott. They know his whole situation with the law and still they love him. As a matter of fact, he is going to be in Liz's Mom's wedding this weekend. We are very happy to welcome Liz into our family.
Here's Liz and Scott trying to be Santa & Mrs. C. Aren't they just cute?
Here they are just before St. Patty's day! They were going to the Strawberry Festival.

Worried

Not something I really want to blog about, but all my blogging buddies are my comfort zone. I am really worried about my husband. 5 years ago this month he had a heart attack. Should have been an eye opener but.......no. He just says he had a weak moment. He didn't have any surgery, wouldn't let them do a cath, quit taking his meds (which ended up in the garbage out of date). Now he is having the same symptoms again. I don't know what to do. He won't go see a doctor. He tells me he is fine. I don't believe him. I'm scared to death. 49 is too young to be a widow. And I don't want to be one at any age. If he is getting ready to have another heart attack, I'm not so sure he'll survive this time. Liz, my son Scott's girlfriend, is a cardiac nurse. She recently moved into the house with us. She is very concerned too and has been questioning the doctors at work about what she can do to help. We had a long talk about Hut last night while he was at the Sheriff's meeting. I got to crying. I love my husband so much and I don't understand how he can be such a selfish mule. He has beautiful grandbabies to watch grow up, two stepsons and their women who love him dearly. And me, but I'm just the wife. I'm just so frustrated and aggravated and oh, so many other feelings that I just don't know how I feel. Thank you for letting me vent and hopefully Hut will come to his senses soon. I love you guys, thanks for being there.

Joe's Crab Shack

Saturday, since all the kids were gone, Hut and I went riding towards Osceola County, checking out yard sales and just enjoying some time together. All that riding around made us hungry. Joe's Crab Shack was calling my name ( and Hut's too evidently).
This is what I got...been dying to try it.....Joe's Classic Steam Pot. It has Alaskan Snow Crab legs, Dungeness Crab legs, shrimp, potoes, an ear of corn and a smoked sausage. Yeah I don't get the whole sausage thing either. Hut got the fried fisherman's platter which had fried cod, shrimp and scallops, hushpuppies and french fries.
Here I am waiting to dive in. I'm trying to supress a yawn, which is why I have that look on my face.Getting to the good stuff. This had to be the best seafood I have ever eaten. I can't wait to go back.I thought this was funny. They had suitcases covered in crabs hanging all over the ceiling. Some were small, others large. Of course this one was a "large case of crabs".
Since we were so close to the grandbabies we decided to pay a visit. Here's sweet Layla. This seems to be her pose lately.
And here's my chubby baby Rossi. She looks just like here daddy. He was a chubbo just like she is. And if you put baby pictures side by side, they could be twins. She is so precious.

Hoe Down with the Sheriff

My husband was on the Sheriff's Advisory Council this past year. That is a group of 20 civilians that help the Sheriff's department with different ideas. From budgeting to jail suggestions, to making sure equipment for the deputies is up to date. Sheriff Grady Judd started this when he took office. His first group was in 2005. Once you are on this committe, you are basically on it for life. My husband enjoyed his year so much that Iam trying to get on it this year. But they had a record number of applicants this time...150. So that needs to be whittled down to 20. If I don't make it this year, I'll try again next.
Last Tuesday what Hut's "graduation"! They had a Western Themed dinner with all the fixin's and an AWESOME Bluegrass band.

Me and Hut before heading out. We clean up pretty darn good if I do say so myself.

Hut enjoying some peanuts before the festivities.

I can't believe we'd fetch $1,000 award. Now don't any of you get it in your pretty little head to turn us in.

Who is that purty little blonde with my husband in the hoosecow? Why it's Gwinnell, Sheriff Judd's right hand "man". Very awesome lady.

They finally figured out it was supposed to be me in there with him.
Sheriff Grady Judd with me and Hut. He is one of the greatest people and a no nonsense sheriff. We all just LOVE him!
Hut receiving his certificate from Sheriff Judd. And yest that's a real covered wagon!
Here's the whole "gradutating class".
This was so much fun. We had dancing and great barbeque to eat. I thought I had video taped the Sheriff dancing but my camera was on the wrong setting. Talk about mad, lol. Can't wait to do this again next year!

Knitting Some Love

I wanted to do something special for my granddaughters. I wanted to make them something they would hopefully cherish through their lives. I'm knitting them afghans. My grandmother made each of her grandchildren one. I still have mine and my brothers. They are packed away in my great-grandmothers steamer trunk. I love my afghan. It kept me warm on many winter nights. My grandmother crocheted hers. Granny squares. I am knitting mine in a pattern called the popcorn pattern. Between my mom, my Aunt Weze and my Grammy Comstock I learned to knit and crochet. Mostly my aunt and grammy taught me. My mother was not very patient ( I get that from her). I'm glad I did learn. Knitting and crocheting are dying arts. Not very many people know how to anymore. I think my cousin Yvette may have learned too, but none of my sisters or other cousins ever did. I haven't done either in awhile so I dusted off the needles and off we go.

This is the one I've started for Layla. Nice bright colors and she loves pink.

Here I have four sections of popcorn pattern finished.

A close up of the pattern. It's basically knitting a row, purling a row and then on the tenth row, dropping every 10th stitch and picking up the pink to make the pattern puff out ( I guess like popcorn?).

If Diana see this sees going to be surprised. I had originally picked out the baby pastels for Rossi. Mainly because I couldn't find any other colored yarn that I liked. Well I shopped at a different Walmart the other day and they had this color. I fell in love with it. I am putting purple in between.

This is the start of Rossi's. You have to use a circular needle.

Hopefully a better shot of the circular needle. By the way these knitting needles were my mom's. So to me that makes this project extra special.

As you can see, I am just starting Rossi's. I plan on doing some on Layla's and then some on Rossi's. I want to try to finish them together.

This picture has nothing to do with my Love Project. I just love this picture. My husband dancing with me on the streets of Old Town, Kissimmee, Florida, to "You've Lost That Loving Feeling". Believe me I haven't lost that feeling.

Easter Sunday, Blossoms & Blooms

What a busy Easter Weekend! Saturday we babysat for my nephew. His 2 little ones are always a joy to watch. I don't know how he got so lucky to have such happy kids.

This is Skylee...she just turned 2. She is one of the happiest little girls I've ever known. She sure don't get it from her daddy's side of the family, lol.

Here's Tyler. He just turned one. He's almost as big as his sister already. Such a cutie. And happy! They are both waiting on "chicky and fries" from McDonald's.

Sunday we went to church to see the girls. Wade had to work. After Wade got off, they were heading to my ex's to spend Easter with him. We had lunch with the girls before we went our separate ways.
Here's Layla Sue pretending to be shy for the camera. You all know she is NOT the least bit shy.

My beautiful daughter in law Diana and precious Rossi Jean. I got to hold Rossi almost all the way through Church. She is such a good baby.
We had lunch at Sonny's on Easter Sunday. Thes guys and gals were in the parking lot as we were leaving. Hopefully no one had duck for Easter dinner.
As we were driving around the other day I saw this Azalea bush...it was all light pink flowers except for the one branch in the middle. It was hot pink!
Most of you know that the place I work is really beautiful and has lots of wild animals that I occasionally get pictures of. I worked a double last Thursday and decided to take some pictures of the flowers. These are pansies that they have planted. It's hard to tell but they are purple, yellow and white.
A close up of the purple ones with water drops on them.

A few months ago we had icicles hanging off the orange trees. Doesn't this tree look like it has snow on it? Believe it or not, the orange trees have fruit AND blossoms on them. It is so pretty and they smell so darn good. I love the way orange blossoms smell. Too bad Yankee Candles discontinued that scent. It was one of my favs.
I love this picture of the oranges hidden among the blossoms.
Another shot of the fruit with the blossoms. The pictures really don't do them justice.
Even though there is no fruit on this tree...I loved the blossoms on it. Today I parked by this tree and the blossoms are gone. I'm glad I took this picture.

Make new friends....but keep the old.....

One is silver and the other gold. I recently found 3 truly wonderful friends on FaceBook. I haven't seen one of them in almost 8 years, the other two in almost 30. Having them find me after all this time is unbelievable. I feel 18 again, lol. We all worked at Disney together in high school and for a little while after graduation. It seems like when we all got married we went our separate ways. We've missed out on so much with each other and yet now we are having a ball catching up...even planning a reunion! Boy the good times we used to have. This is Melody ( with her husband, Keith. We've kept in touch off and on through the years. She lives in Texas now but is making a trip to Orlando in May. Hope to see her while she is here. This is Patti(with her husband, Shawn). She is probably the craziest of the 3. Patti actually tried to teach me how to drive a stick shift back in the day...a 3 speed on the column, no less.Frank here was our "father" figure so to speak because he was "sooo much older than us", lol. I think Frank is only a couple years older than us. We spent alot of time at Frank's house. His parents would leave town and we would all hang there. He had a projection room for watching movies which is way cool now, but I think even more cool back then.

I am hoping to keep my "old" friends back in my life. Computers can be a wonderful thing sometimes and it sure was for me this time.

Am I Crazy?

Photo of a happier time with the ex (Wade's wedding)
You all know what I went through because of my ex-husband with my son Scott. Well Tuesday I decided to try to see if he would be my friend on FaceBook. Partly to keep an eye on him and see what he's up to, but also to try and mend some fences since we not only share children but now grandchildren. He did befriend me on FB but he sent an message I wasn't real happy with. So I, of course, sent back a nasty message. So he decides we need to talk and he calls my son to tell him to have me call him. Hut was not real happy about any of this and told me I shouldn't call him. Well I decided I have kept my mouth shut with him for too long and yes, I was going to call him.

I did call him, and for the next 45 minutes and 3 seconds couldn't get a word in edgewise. Not really, I did get a few good licks in there but not many, lol. We have worked out most of the issues, enough that we can be civil to each other at family events. So am I crazy for even talking to this man again? Probably but I really don't want to have the kids and grandkids walking on pins and needles or be afraid to talk about the other parent/grandparent. So I think that yes, I'm crazy......but it's all for a good cause! All comments and lashings welcome.
